Hendrik Meyer studied Sociology, Art and Media Studies, English & American Studies, as well as Media Culture & Globalization in Oldenburg and Bremen. Since 2021, he has been a research associate at the University of Hamburg, working at the Chair of “Communication Studies, especially Climate and Science Communication,” and serving as the coordinator of the research program “(De-)Polarization of Transformative Communication” at The New Institute, Hamburg. He is also working in data processing and analysis for the “Climate Futures” research project within Hamburg’s CLICCS Cluster of Excellence, as well as for the Volkswagen Foundation-funded project “Fuel 2 the Fire” project. His research focuses on journalistic and digital media debates related to (climate) politics and protests and he specializes in network analysis and (semi-automated) content analysis. His PhD dissertation explores the discursive polarization of media discourses surrounding (disruptive) climate protests.
